We wasted no time in getting on our way to the compound where the priest was being held. We met up with a road barricade who held us up only momentarily. Raven pulled out his asinine impression of an intolerant French photographer. The guards bought the story and let us through.
After being on the road for a while, we noticed that we were being followed. After all, not much gets past our vampiric senses. We presumed that they might be hostile. We prepared for battle. Willie turned into a bat and fly out the top of the Jeep. Harbaz turned invisible and slid beneath our lead Jeep, and let our following Jeep pass over him. He took out one of our pursuers by slamming him off his moving motorcycle. The cyclist never saw what hit him.
It was at that moment that the Nigerians began to shout, “Vlermuis! Heer vlermuis!” McPhee quickly used his faithful GoogleNow® to translate that they had seen the bat. We were about to take them out for following me. But, we eventually decided that they might not be a threat at all. Our hunch was true.
We stopped our attack. The Nigerians let us know that they had been sent to help. They provided us with a small regimen of men and an armored transport. We continued our trek to save the priest.
We arrived at the compound near 2 A.M. We were immediately thrown into conflict by some brash decision. But no worries. Vampires thrive on conflict!
We were stopped by two Twilight Guards and their Scientist. We open fire on them after they commanded us to drop our weapons. Not a chance! With inhuman speed…and invampiric speed for that matter. We took out the two sentries. The Scientist began to flee. Harbaz commanded him to speak were the priest was being held. I leaped over him landing just in time to hear him mumbling, “Got to get back to the priest in the basement…main building…ritual.” I step to the side to let him pass…because if I really want to get him I would have. I shadow-melded right into his very own shadow while shouting to Willie, “I have the Scientist!”
Willie ran for the main building unwittingly toward my same destination. I realized at that moment that the Scientist was moving way too slow for my taste. So I came out of his shadow and gave a hypnotic command to the scientist, “I need to get you out of here!”
The Scientist immediately turned around and looked expectantly at me. It was just at that moment that Harbaz blew off his leg unknowingly of my hypnotic intent. I picked the scientist off the floor and ran for the main building just behind Willie who was now conflicting with two more guards. One was already disarmed and the other was slightly injured. I commanded the injured guard that he needed to get outside and help in the gunfight taking place between McPhee/Harbaz and the Twilight Guards.
Willie takes out the other guard and joins the Scientist and me at a heavy reinforced steel door at the back of the main room of this building. I ask the scientist to get out his card key. He fumbles for it. Again too slow for my taste. I pull it out of his lab coat myself. I ask him, “Are they still doing the ritual?” As if I knew what was going on.
“Yes, we must keep the door close…” He says weakly. “…they must not be disturbed.” Not what I wanted to hear. I plunge my fangs into his neck with a snap of his spine, and toss him to the side. He will just bleed out quicker now.
Willie and I open the door we saw a long length of steep stairs. Another steel door was at the bottom. We raced down, not knowing what sort of ritual we might be running into. Willie hulked out into his Beast Bat form. I casually used the key card once more, then flung open the door. We saw a vast wide corridor with cell doors on either side. We were taken aback for a moment by the sight of the vastness. I was expecting to walk right in on a ritual, not this. I reach my senses out to sense any electrical devices that may help our search of where the ritual might be. I could not find anything of use. I ran to the right side. Willie ran to the left. We starting racing down the corridor peering into each room as we ran by. We seemed to be getting nowhere fast.
It was at that moment that the gangly Sir Thad speeds out of the darkness from the other end of the corridor and shouted, “Niko, Willie! Get out. This whole place is going to be gone in a little bit. They are trying to destroy this whole part of the country.”
“Thad?! Where da hell you come from?” Willie belted out.
“What? Destroyed? I don’t understand…where is the priest?” I added.
“Sorry Niko, he is part of the ritual. I tried to get in but there are extensive protection wards keeping them safe inside their ritual room.”
“Willie, take Thad out of here and keep him safe!”
“Niko!” Sir Thad shouted. “It is futile! You won’t be able to get in, all you can do is look in.”
“That’s all I will need!” I pushed forward from where Thad came from.
As I reached the room. I peered in. The ritual was as he said it would be. Acolytes and dark priests dressed in dark brown cloaks with hoods standing around an altar. They were swaying their bodies back and forth and chanting some unknown tongue to me. I could feel the evil emanating from behind the closed door. I was feeling a little unsure of my plan at this moment.
I slip on the ring of the Basilisk. Just as I was about to peer into the window upon the dark priests…I blacked out. I am unsure what happened. I planned on using my timepiece teleport device to magically get out of there. But, now I am unsure of my fate….
