As I have nobody more I can truly trust to correspond with, I have taken the long journey from Fuzhou to Istanbul to begin cataloguing my journeys in this private journal. I feel that the information I collect in my search to rid myself and my love of this curse will prove valuable to those in a future time. And seeing that my aim might rid me of my gift of immortality, this journal may be my only means of living on well after I am dead.
I am flying on a plane that we hyjacked in China. My loyal companions are in the back of the plane feasting on the “gifts” given to us by the pilots of the plane. Willie not wishing to waste any part of his meal, is playing with her for a bit. In a way I envy him. He is full of life, and takes her by the horns each day…sometimes literally. At this moment, I feel like Penelope is drifting away.
We arrived in Istanbul when Willie got the call from Mama. Apparently, Little Tony needs Willie in Rome ASAP! I am preparing for a trap. That Mama just cannot be trusted. Needless to say, we are heading to Rome again. Hopefully this time we are not accausted by members of the church as before.
We are here in Rome. We have been detained again at the airport. What a coincidence! The officials will not allow us to leave our plane until the morning. Obviously this will not do for our kind.
Willie has been on the phone with Mama and a few contacts trying to get us on our way. Buddy ingeniusly comes up with the idea of Porphyria purpura. Sometime the beast surprises me. I guess he is more than just a killing machine that thinks more with his stomach more than his mind.
Finally, we are on our way…
…We arrive at Mama’s facility. She introduces us to Mr. McPhee. He is very business oriented. Nothing is really known about Mr. McPhee…not even his first name. Willie embraces him very quickly seeing that he is also a member of the Coven of the Beast. Raven and I still question his loyalties, though. Lord Tanus assigned him to ‘help’ Willie out. Unfortunately, we have come in the RADAR of most of the Bloodlords, and most are not pleased with our exploits. I doubt Little Tony is wanting to help. Rather, I feel he sees Willie as a loose cannon in his organization who could easily make Little Tony lose his head. Too much booze and laciviousness has made the Coven of the Beast weak. They are no longer the warriors they once were. Much of this is from the weakness at its head. With some much internal problems in the Beast, they are tettering on collapse. I believe Little Tony knows this.
With Mr. McPhee came a new plane. I will admit, this new development will assist us in our designs. Another thing I will admit, I feel that I was wrong regarding Mama. She seems quite sincere in her aid. It is very possible that Mama knows more about the instabilities of the Beast, which I can only hypothesize. If this is the case, I see that she is one who will do what ever she can to keep her family together. Maybe this is why everyone calls her Mama.
Later, McPhee finds one of Alice’s calling cards in his pocket. She calls us all to her island. Willie refuses to go. He says that we should not trust the Alchemist, and that we should kill her to avenge Rin’s and Slim’s deaths.
Raven sides with Willie. Apparently, Willie has somehow manipulated Raven into his delusions. Needless to say, Raven approaches me and begins to try and convince me of this ludicrous plan. The funny thing is that he states it was his original idea. I knew that nothing that insane could be authored by Raven, thus I immediately knew Willie had put him up to this. Despite Willie’s insanities, he has proven to be a great tacticion. Thus, he put Raven up to convincing me, rather than doing the job for himself, knowing I would clear reject most any plan coming directly from himself.
Being my duty to bring logic and reason to our motley group, I tell Raven all the reasons why attacking Alice would not be in our best interests at the moment. Raven is convinced of the brashness of Willie’s plan after I asked him how we are to leave Alice’s island once we dispose of her. You see, our travel to and from the island has always been through her powers. If she were no longer able to transport us, we would be forever trapped on an island, which we really don’t know where exactly it is at. In fact, it may not be on this world at all. Five vampires trapped on an island surrounded by miles of water that would melt us the moment we touched it.
Alice once again gives us a beckoning call. We convince Willie to join us, since the Halocator will not work without him. We instantly teleport to Alice’s island. Alice appears only seconds after we arrive. Mr. McPhee is at her side. We all enter her castle, all except Willie and Buddy.
Alice explains her position, along with her ambiguous motives, to McPhee. Mr.McPhee asks Alice several questions, which she deceptively either brushes away or answers it with another question. I am beginning to see Willie’s point he keeps making about Alice. I conclude that I will need to find out more about our benefactor in the future. It is entirely possible that my quest to cure Penelope has blinded me in to giving my trust too readily to the Lady Alchemist. Nevertheless, at the moment her aid is indespensible.
McPhee after being told about the Halocator declines to participate…apparently Alice did was not one of his paying customers.
Once we are finished with Alice, we head for McPhee’s jet. Willie explains our mission to find the whereabouts of the fabled Alucard. McPhee plots a course to Peru. We follow Willie to a Beast owned Hotel. In the basement we are told that there is a fight club. We are all curious to see a fight. We are promised access to the club the folowing night. I crawl in to bed exhausted from three days of travel.
Once nightfalls, we make our way to the basement of the hotel. The place is huge. An arena carved out of the stone beneath the hotel is incredible. We find a few seats near the front to watch the first fight. We decide to make some bets. Having only $10 left in my pockets, I decide to see if the bookie would take some of the credit I had earned with Alice’s shop, which was on the credit card she had given me. When I swiped it the card was accepted! I put all my credits on a ugly troglodyte calling himself “Lizard-Boy”. He was battling a giant clad in bone-armor. Quite the underdog!
After a very close and exciting battle the troglodyte opens a river of lava right underneath his giant opponent. The bones literally melt off his giant body. The crowd goes crazy! We do too, we have won BIG!
Buddy somehow enters as one of the contestants. Since we are rolling in credits and actual dollars, we decide bet high on Buddy. He fights a insidious dragon with butterfly wings. Buddy stomps the dragon into the ground. The fight was quite spectacular. I don’t believe Buddy even got hurt.
All our betting brings the attention of Hyben, the fight club manager. His men detain Willie. I try to deceive our way out of the situation by supercharging the reception on Willie’s cellphone bluffing a call from Little Tony. It almost fools them, but the lead thug sees through the bluff. He takes Willie and McPhee to talk with Hyben.
For what seems like an eternity, they are all in a room guarded by Hyben’s thugs. I try to sense anything I can to tell what’s going on in the room. But, all my efforts reveal nothing. Finally, Willie is escorted out of the room. He looks at me and says, “Niko, these joker ain’t foolin’ round. Dey angry dat we git all der money. And now dey wanna equal the score wid me as da next one to go an fight. Says dey allowin’ one to fight next to me. I know you ain’t got my back wid da clottin’ Skeezer witch. But you got it now, bro?”
His word definitely cut me. How can I refuse now?
